The airport was built on its present site as early as 1930 by private individuals, and in 1937 became a state airport, managed by the Secrétariat de l'Air. Subsequently, the State enlarged its surface area to 155 hectares (including 79 ha on the commune of Cannes and 36 on that of Mandelieu). At the time, as the only airport on the Côte d'Azur, Air France flights landed at Cannes.
The 2nd largest business aviation airport in France, Cannes Mandelieu Airport is a dynamic hub, attentive to the needs of its customers.
Based between the Estérel massif, the Bay of Cannes and the Grasse region, Cannes Mandelieu Airport offers an exceptional gateway to the mythical Côte d'Azur, from Saint-Tropez to the Principality of Monaco.
Complementing Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, more specifically dedicated to scheduled commercial aviation, Cannes Mandelieu Airport focuses its positioning on general tourism and business aviation.
